<div dir="ltr">Sometimes it's the small things one remembers most. In my beginning days in choir many years ago it was Hedi, Darlene and Linda Abbott who made me most welcome. Hedi would make certain I had the right music, and that welcoming smile! Later she was a mystery buddy for one on my grandchildren during March mystery madness. Her attention to both of them after that introduction showed interest and caring, kindness. After I shared with the choir Catherine Orr's prodigious effort to sing me awake after a death defying surgery it was Hedi who said "I'm gad Catherine was able to sing you back to life." Such kindness, always such kindness. And it is the accumulation of her many kindnesses that I will remember. Goodbye, Hedi. <div dir="ltr">I am so sorry to hear about Hedi, and I will miss her. Still, I'm heartened to remember that she was able to live her life so fully until very recently. She was in choir only last week, and in Onion River Chorus the last time it met. I doubt she'd stopped her many other activities. And she had had that marvelous trip to Austria in December.

Earlier I had heard she has pain from damaged muscles and nerves, but no signs of pneumonia. She is on a lot of medication for that pain, but took herself off one drug which made her "crazy." The doctor said she would need to go to rehab and it would be a slow recovery even with physical therapy. Hedi said she preferred Berlin Rehab. I saw her tonight and she was very confused and looked weak. Karin, her daughter, called me a few minutes ago and had been at the hospital just a little after I was. She told me Hedi had been moved to the ICU just after I had visited her with the possible diagnosis" (Katin's words) of pneumonia. Feel free to pass this info to others in the choir. Harris</div>
