Interpreting Gospel Music<br>

The Montpelier Community Gospel Choir invites you to join us in an online workshop on Monday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m.<br>
<br>
The interpretation of Gospel Music extends beyond the notes, rhythms and handclaps. Its compelling characteristics lie at the root of black experience in America and are a distinct reflection of how one's relationship with God has contributed to that journey. This masterclass will explore the roots of African American folk-based music styles ( i.e., gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B) to provide insight into understanding the sound, feel, interpretation, and function of the music within a culturally viable performance.<br>

The workshop will be led by Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin. Dr. Trineice has dedicated her career to performing and developing resources for teaching jazz, gospel/christian, R&B, rock, country, and pop singing styles. She is currently on the faculty at Princeton University as the jazz voice instructor, lecturer, and director of the Jazz Vocal Collective Ensemble, and maintains a private voice studio in Lawrenceville NJ.<br>
