As I’m sure all of you understand, the last two years have been very discouraging for musicians such as myself that have tried throughout my life to be a full-time performer. Many thanks to all of you who came to one of my concerts on my New England tour last November – and naturally, I understand why those of you who remain Covid cautious chose not to attend, that’s perfectly reasonable in these difficult times. I have had only one concert since the beginning of 2022, although I do have a few planned for Vermont this fall to look forward to. Here are a few ways you can support my music right now:

1. I’ve just launched a YouTube music channel, which will feature livestream online concerts, selections from my recordings and past live performances, video explainers at the piano of moments in some of my favorite pieces, and maybe some interviews where I might talk about my past and future creative projects. To get the channel started, I’ve uploaded the music of two of my CDs. “Constellation” has piano pieces by Bach, Shostakovich, Mozart, Milhaud, and Messiaen, and “Beethoven Piano Sonatas” has Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Sonata and his early Sonata no. 4 op. 7 in E-flat major. These were the easiest for me to get up on the website quickly in terms of the rights situation, but I hope to have permissions/licenses soon to additionally upload content from some of my other recordings and performances.

You can help me by visiting the homepage of my new YouTube channel and clicking on the Subscribe button. You can search at YouTube.com for “Michael Arnowitt Music” or use this direct link:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTnjKWhA-o8YNrG8odGGTOQ

Subscribing is free and does not require any sort of an account, it’s just a public webpage. All you have to do is press on the subscribe button near where it says Michael Arnowitt Music. Currently I have 90 subscribers and my present goal is to reach 250. In addition to subscribing, you can click on the Videos button to see a complete list of what I’ve uploaded so far (the home page may only show you a partial list). From what I’ve been told, if you listen to any of my YouTube posts for at least 30 seconds, I will get credited with a “view” and the number count will go up by one. You can also help by pressing the “like” button on any individual video or make a comment in the comment section: with enough interactions of this sort, YouTube gets the message that at least some people are interested in the music and it will start to recommend my content to others. Not that I’m at all very knowledgable about this whole world of online streaming music, but I’m sure you can see how your subscribing, clicking like, or making a comment all helps me in a general way to gain some momentum on YouTube and thereby get my music out to more people in the world. So if you’re willing to do that, thanks.

2. I have created some new classical piano concert programs, and I’ve been trying over the past few months to get the word out in the music presenting community of my availability to perform these new programs in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons. These programs have names such as Kaleidoscope, Crossroads, Musical Landscapes, and so forth. I’m really excited to share all this new music I’m learning with audiences but admittedly am having a difficult time finding organizations willing to present me in concert. I have a few performances of these new programs scheduled for Vermont for September and November – if you go to my website www.MAPiano.com and click on the calendar link you can see what I have so far for confirmed concerts ... which isn’t much, but you have to start somewhere.

Do you have any ideas for concert series (in any state, not just Vermont) or any cultured person you think might appreciate what I have to offer musically that you would recommend I contact? If there’s anyone you would be willing to help introduce me to, my graphic designer just created a very visually beautiful brochure describing my new program offerings which I could attach to an email and send you to pass along.

3. I will be visiting Vermont this summer from July 29 to August 16 and if anyone might like to hire me to provide a jazz group to play music for a party or private function, please let me know. I can arrange for a jazz group of 2 to 5 musicians depending on the amount of pay available. I will have with me speakers and other needed sound equipment, so the music could take place outdoors or indoors as desired.

Thanks for reading my update.
