A bright hello on behalf of the Board and the Stewardship Committee on this eve of October,

I’m writing to ask you all to do one small task to help out with our Fall Fundraiser this year. Don’t worry, this request is easy! And it’s vital that we all engage in supporting the efforts of Stewardship in our congregation so we can develop the culture of generosity and gratitude that will continue to financially support this community through its growth. I personally appreciate your support as we in the Stewardship Committee are working hard to ensure that we can fully fund our budget this year! :)

So my request of you all is that you forward the following note to all of your committee members. As a passionate community leader, it would be icing on the cake if you were to add a note at the beginning of your email to your committee talking about how you are personally supporting the Fall Fundraiser and the Community of Love Celebration, i.e. by donating a service or item to the Gifts of Love Raffle, by providing a reading or song or facepainting at the event, by helping to set up or clean up on the day of, or by stuffing letters for the mailing. Just let me know how you would like to help out!

So here is the note I’m kindly asking you to send to your committee members, and thank you so much!:

Dear ___________ committee members,

I’m writing on behalf of the Stewardship Committee and the Board as we are planning our Fall Fundraiser and the subsequent event: the Community Of Love Celebration on October 21 after the 2nd service. I’ve attached the Save the Date in case you haven’t gotten one :)

First of all, I want to personally appreciate each and every one of you for the contributions of time and talent that you have shared with our community. You truly bring the spirit to “this place” and make it ring! *Please now read all the way through this email, including the PS at the end.* <3

You probably recall that the budget for UCM relies upon the success of some fund-raising events. The UCM Board and its Stewardship Committee are working together to try something new for our Fall Fundraiser this year - a Community of Love Celebration!

—> Let us come together in love, to celebrate the gifts that we each have for one another. <--

We want to create an event that will be a celebration of the gifts that we have for each other - the gifts that we all bring to the table - we each have something beautiful to give freely from our hearts.

This event will feature a Gifts of Love Raffle in which each member of our community will get tickets to place on the gifts and services of their choice - all given from the heart by community members like you!

Does the event/raffle cost money? - Nope! It’s just a party where we celebrate each other’s generous spirits and eat cake. 😁

Please let us know if you’ll be able to donate a gift or service (and/or cake?!) to this Gifts of Love raffle! Whether you’ve given an item to the Fall Auction in the past or not, we are encouraging everyone to search their hearts for what they have to give our loving community. There couldn’t possibly be too many of these. We’re hoping for as many of our community members as possible to share gifts with each other!

Be creative! Whether it’s a night of babysitting, a massage, a family meal for a busy family, a family portrait, a ride on your boat, some math tutoring, I’m sure there’s someone who would love an hour or two of your presence and time! Maybe you’re a baker, a songwriter, a carpenter, or an organizer, or you have a used laptop someone might need; whatever resources or talents you have would be a welcome gift for someone in our community. Just think of this as a gift to someone in our community who is as yet unknown, but will be revealed soon!

We’re asking everyone to submit their gift of love by October 12th, so please let us know soon! We want to display the items (or pictures representing them) at church on Sunday October 14, a week before the actual event.

We’re asking each item donor if they can provide the box or other receptacle that will receive the raffle tickets for their item; again, be creative! It needs to hold tickets, and otherwise should be an expression of your raffle item and your creativity. Have fun with this! (At one of these raffles someone used a catcher’s mitt because their gift was a pitching lesson!)(We’ll need the “box,” too, by October 12th.)

Thanks so much to all of you, and please let me know ASAP whether and what you want to contribute to this event!

In love and community,

Charlotte Root

Stewardship Chair

Board Secretary

PS.
