Dear All,

It was wonderful to have so many of you singing and playing on Christmas
Eve! The service was full of life, full of music from different time
periods and musical traditions, and full of the warmth - both physical and
metaphysical - of a more than full church.

I hope that Christmas Day was also a pleasure for you all; it certainly was
here at the Riley house with daughter Lissa, son-in-law Brian, and grandson
Silas.

This year's Christmas season is a church oriented one because just three
days after the big musical celebration of Christmas Eve there's another
service that will *be made all the better by your participation.* Sunday
(blink, blink) is tomorrow and we will lead the congregation in the three
rounds in the teal colored hymnal that we've been rehearsing:

1011 Return Again

1059 May Your Life Be as a Song

1036 Calypso Alleluia

The service tomorrow won't be like any that you've ever attended at our
church. There will be three speakers from the congregation - Tina Ruth,
Irina Markova, and Anne Ferguson - who will speak about personal
experiences, three rounds that you will lead and all who are there will
participate in, and (about) three short readings that Sally Armstrong and
Bill Payne will read. I think the service will be fresh and memorable. I
hope to see as many of you there as possible.

*We will meet in the Sanctuary tomorrow morning at 9:30* to sing through
the rounds once or twice in preparation for leading the congregation.

Looking further into the UCM Choir crystal ball I see...

*No rehearsal on Thursday, Dec. 31* (New Year's Eve).

*No UCM Choir on Sunday, Jan. 3*, which is the "To Say Their Names" service
conducted by Hospice. Some of you have volunteered to sing with the Hospice
singers but Bob Riggen has requested that you only do so if you are able to
participate in two rehearsals.

*Our next Choir rehearsal will be on Thursday, Jan. 7. We will sing in
church on Sunday, Jan. 10. *We will immediately be learning music that we
will sing at the 150th anniversary celebration later in January.

With great appreciation for all that you bring to UCM, especially your
voices,
Dick
