Good Morning, dear friends -

Art was flown to Yale late last night for the biopsy. No word yet on when
it will happen, but probably today. I'll update you when I learn more.

Sue is now driving down to be with Art. As of about 8:30 she was at the
Massachusetts border, so she'll be there fairly soon.

Meredith was with Art late afternoon yesterday when they learned that he
would be flown to Yale at 9:30 PM. He was worried at first but they spent
the evening talking through it, and Art was calm and accepting when he
departed. The midnight arrival at Yale didn't go well, as Art was very
agitated. Meredith advocated from afar and talked with Art on the phone.
Doctors gave him a drug to calm him down, and he slept all night.

On a side note, I'm very glad that Art's biopsy is happening at Yale. My
mother died of a rare brain disease and was treated by some of the top
neurology teams in the country, including at Yale. I'm comforted on this
scary day to know that Art is at Yale. [I know: not rational, but hey...]
Your loving notes to me throughout Art's hospitalization have been very
comforting. Waiting for the biopsy results feels very hard. Art told me on
Tuesday that he'd been doing a lot of praying, and we did some together. I
read Thich Nhat Hanh aloud to him, and we meditated now and then throughout
the day. I hesitate to add this, but I think you might want to know: Art
spoke at length on Tuesday about his acceptance of dying and his feeling of
readiness. He reflected a lot on his life and offered up many words of
wisdom. We talked about hope a lot, too, and all the waiting and tests and
the unknown about his condition. I just wanted you all to know that.
