Paula Gills left a phone message for me this morning while I was at meetings at UCM. She said:
1) The weather is not supposed to be good this Sunday, which means that we would be forced to be inside, which would make Didi's lovely house a bit small for a large crowd.
2) The "traditional" choir get together, Paula tells me, was on the Thursday before the last Sunday of the year. The weather is (hopefully) more predictably good, and there is only a very small amount to rehearse for the upcoming Sunday service. This year that date would be June 9.
3) Planning something for June gives us more time to coordinate the pot luck, and takes some of the "heat" off our big upcoming Music Sunday. To say nothing about the heat of an important church meeting that happens after this Sunday's service.
All this strongly suggests that this Sunday isn't the best time, but that June 9 might be. What do you all think?

I think it's a fun proposal; thank you for writing, Sarah, and thank you Didi!
Our daughter Lissa and Dick's sister Susan, both of whom will be involved in the music-making, would presumably be joining us although neither Dick nor I know exactly when they'll need to head back to Massachusetts, so there's some uncertainty in our plans for that afternoon.
If many other choir members would also have family they'd like to have join us, I guess the question would be "Can the Brush home accommodate a cast of thousands?" Or, well, dozens?

We talked about this briefly, but are folks still interested? Didi has graciously offered her house in Montpelier, and it might be our last chance to get together socially before the end of the church year.....
