I met Jason Shelton 20 years ago when he first joined the UU Musicians
Network and I was at All Souls Washington and an officer in the UUMN.  His
impact was immediate as he introduced  his vibrant compositions to us,
eleven of which are in Singing The Journey , such as "Morning Has Come" and
"Standing on The Side of Love".  Subsequently, he attended Vanderbilt
Divinity School and was ordained and fellowshipped to our ministry.  To say
he is multi-talented is a gross understatement. And I certainly value his
colleagueship and his friendship. He brings to us all a dynamic and deep
religious perspective fueled and fed by the music which is in his every

Vibrant congregational singing is a sure sign of a healthy, thriving
church. Why? Because congregations that sing with vitality are
congregations that know who and why they are. Revitalizing congregational
singing is one of the best growth strategies available, and it's easier to
do than you might think!

In this workshop we'll

   - explore the *rich and varied songs in our Living Tradition*, flesh out
   their historical and theological context
   - consider ways to add* "spice and flavor"* to the congregational music
   experience through instrumentation and rhythmic variation
   - engage in questions of *diversity, authenticity, and mission*

   alive in unexpected way
