[Choir] Save the dates! Fall gathering and workshop, questions to consider

Hello!

We have set dates for our fall gathering and the vocal workshop which we
proposed a few weeks ago.  After hearing everyone's feedback, we decided to
have 2 separate events, with our gathering/party happening before the
church year starts, as we've traditionally done, and the workshop later in
September.

*Choir gathering/party*

When:  Sunday, September 2nd 4-7 PM
What:  Mostly Socializing, Eating, Drinking, Singing
Where:  Donia's home in East Montpelier (White Pine Co-housing community),
with outdoor pizza oven, fire pit, indoor space for singing

When:   Saturday September 22nd,  10:30 am-12:30
at the church
There will be a suggested charge for the workshop, max $20/person, waived
for those who feel it is a hardship.

The party is open to all--choir members, friends and family, potential
choir members.
As space for an effective workshop is limited, the workshop will just be
for active choir members, with the goal both of enriching individuals
vocally and of building cohesion as a group.

A couple things to think about:
The music committee would love to have some new members!  Mainly the Music
Committee's function is to enhance the musical life of the church by
assisting Dick as needed, and supporting the choir.  It's possible that the
role of the committee might change a bit as we move into doing 2 services,
but we don't really know.  We meet as necessary.  Sometimes several months
go by without meeting, and occasionally we will meet several times in one
month when there is something to be worked on.  We could specifically use
one or 2 people who would be interested in helping to plan and organize
events (social and also possibly skill-building) for the choir.  No need
for involvement before next year, and we will bring this up at the party,
but something to consider!  Recently, the committee's active members have
been Lindsay, Cecile and Donia, in addition to Dick and Eliza.  Charlotte
has also just joined us.

Workshop:
The 2 hours will be divided between group exercises, and master class type
format.  She will be able to work with 3-6 people individually in the
second half, using the music Dick will have chosen for that week's
service.   It would be wonderful to have at least one volunteer from each
vocal part!   So consider if you would like to do this.   If you've never
been to a master class, basically the teacher uses working with an
individual to demonstrate how to work through/address vocal challenges.

We'll send something out later in the summer as a reminder and with more
details on the party.
