Good morning, all,
I ask you to read this entire email as it has information about Betty
Davis' memorial service AND the annual Community Carol Sing.
As I mentioned last night at rehearsal, the memorial service for Betty
Davis will be on Sunday, November 18 at 2 pm. Betty was a long-time member
of UCM, and she sang in the choir for many years, though she had stopped
before I had a chance to meet her.
We will sing "Life Calls Us On" which is, by chance, what we will be
singing at the 11 am service that morning. That means that we won't need to
rehearse immediately before the memorial service; we'll be able to rehearse
sufficiently with both the full choir and the smaller group before the
morning service. I would ask that you come to UCM by 1:40 p.m.
Believe it or not, Betty's son Sam reports that he and his daughter sang
"Life Calls Us On" at his father's service ten years ago.
One thing that will be different at the memorial service is that we cannot
depend on the people at the memorial service feeling comfortable singing
the "congregation" part. Could one or two altos take that on? We could use
a microphone to amplify if that is necessary. Please let me know if you'd
be willing.
The annual Community Carol Sing, at which the choirs from UCM, Bethany
Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, and Christ Episcopal Church sing,
will be on December 9 at 6 pm. Last year it was at UCM; this year it will
be at Christ Episcopal on State St.. I'm hoping that it's possible for
EVERYONE to sing! It's a great time for us to sing for others and for the
amassed choirs to raise their voices together. Please, if at all possible,
put the date on your calendars.
Many thanks for your singing!
Dick
