[Choir] Thursday's rehearsal

If most choir members are going to the talk tomorrow evening, is the North Branch Cafe gathering cancelled or would it be better to postpone it until a week from Thursday? Christen Lynn

Climate Change Talk With Roger Hill

Roger Hill's talk this Thursday at 6:30 at the Unitarian Church in Montpelier will now be upstairs in the sanctuary. This means that there are 100 more tickets available. Roger Hill, the weatherman on WDEV and blogger at Weathering Heights. Roger's main job is to provide guidance to Vermont utilities on where to expect the worst storm events so they can pre-position crews and equipment. This effort has led him into a deeper investigation on the role of climate change on our future weather. He now has a pretty solid knowledge of what this will mean for Vermont.

Are winters becoming snowier? Springs wetter? Summers drier? Will we ever have colorful foliage again? These are the visable questions, however there are deeper issues. Will rain come in more extreme events causing increased risk of flooding? Will draught restrict our water usage in the summer? How will these changes in the weather patterns affect the City's water supply, sewage treatment plant/storm water system, as well as food production in our region?

There will be a discussion after the program to imagine what we can do as a community to respond to these new weather patterns. How can we come together and work on a neighborhood level to prepare for the coming challenges?
