A quick note to say thank you for your singing (and playing - thank you
Eric!) these last few weeks. Our embrace of a variety of music(s) has been
broad, including new music (my "We Speak of Time"), music celebrating
Diwali, iconic music from the stage ("Somewhere" - thank you Cecile!), and
a kind of Unitarian doxology ("O Source of All").
And you've endured my 24/7 attention to singing in tune. What stamina
you've shown!
As I mentioned at last Thursday's rehearsal, singing in tune has to always
be in our consciousness because we frequently sing with the piano, and the
piano doesn't know how to adjust its pitch. The *good* news about striving
to sing in tune, though, is that awareness of the challenge, and the vocal
and physical adjustments you need to make sure that you get as close as
possible, is very healthy in all respects. Your body and mind will thank
you for your effort and attention!
I'm sitting in front of the wood stove looking out our windows at hundreds
of trees - with no leaves! Yesterday, after Eliza and I had lunch
together, she drove me back home and wet snow was falling. Winter is on its
way. You'd think that at my advanced age I wouldn't continue to be
astonished at that!
