                                                                                          9/24/20Dear Choir Friends                                                                                      How we miss our music!!But change is on its way. As you know, the UCM Board and Executive Committee have chosen a new InterimDirector of Music for UCM, for the 2020-2021 church year, as recommended by theHiring Committee.  The Committee workedlong and hard to sort through the candidates, making hard decisions and takinginto consideration all the challenges of the times.  We now present to you, Kellie Walker Hart. Kellie is agifted musician and comes with many years of experience, creating communitythrough collaborative, soulful worship. She was the long-term Minister of Musicat Valley UU Congregation in Chandler, Arizona and currently has a consultingbusiness in music and worship design. She understands the special challenges ofthe current pandemic and these unsettled times, and the use of virtual media tokeep music and singing in our lives.   Her website can be found at hartsongsmusic.com.The interview process was very thorough and thoughtful, andincluded at least 20 applicants, both local and from across the country.  All very, very well qualified.  But Kellie stood out from the rest, and weare delighted to have her with us, virtually and sometime, we hope, in personfor the Interim position.Kellie understands the need to bring out the music withinour hearts, to nourish ourselves and our congregation.  We are all anxious to meet Kellie, as she is to meetus.  We are proposing to take some timeon Thursday evening, October 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 to meet with Kellie via ZOOM.   The gathering will last about an hour and ahalf, so we’ll each have time to introduce ourselves, briefly.  One suggestion would be for you to make a“slide” of a photo of yourself, or something dear to you, to post on the screenwhile you speak (for a minute or two).These are unsettled times, and changes occur daily, butmusic, singing and being with friends can help keep our souls together.In faith,Beth Damon, Charlotte Root and Sue Stukey, for the choir..
