[Choir] An invitation to meet and greet our new Director of Music

Dear Choir Friends


How we miss our music!!

But change is on its way.  As you know, the UCM Board and Executive
Committee have chosen a new Interim Director of Music for UCM, for the
2020-2021 church year, as recommended by the Hiring Committee.  The
Committee worked long and hard to sort through the candidates, making hard
decisions and taking into consideration all the challenges of the times.

We now present to you, Kellie Walker Hart. Kellie is a gifted musician and
comes with many years of experience, creating community through
collaborative, soulful worship. She was the long-term Minister of Music at
Valley UU Congregation in Chandler, Arizona and currently has a consulting
business in music and worship design. She understands the special
challenges of the current pandemic and these unsettled times, and the use
of virtual media to keep music and singing in our lives.   Her website can

The interview process was very thorough and thoughtful, and included at
least 20 applicants, both local and from across the country.  All very,
very well qualified.  But Kellie stood out from the rest, and we are
delighted to have her with us, virtually and sometime, we hope, in person
for the Interim position.

Kellie understands the need to bring out the music within our hearts, to
nourish ourselves and our congregation.

We are all anxious to meet Kellie, as she is to meet us.  We are proposing
to take some time on Thursday evening, October 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 to meet
with Kellie via ZOOM.   The gathering will last about an hour and a half,
so we’ll each have time to introduce ourselves, briefly.  One suggestion
would be for you to make a “slide” of a photo of yourself, or something
dear to you, to post on the screen while you speak (for a minute or two).

These are unsettled times, and changes occur daily, but music, singing and
being with friends can help keep our souls together.
