Hello!
Thanks to everyone for your understanding, supportive and positive
responses to the news of our hiatus. Eric, I am so sad that this means we
won't see you again until Spring!
I would like to get the music to "Gabi, Gabi" to everyone. I hoped to scan
it and send as a pdf but my scanner isn't working--will work that out in
the coming days. In the meantime, if anyone is planning to go the Michael
Arnowitt concert today I will have copies there. Also, I will leave a
folder in the entryway of the church on Sunday, as I know some of you have
keys and go there for one reason or another.. If you won't be able to
print it when I do send it, and neither of these other options work for
you, let me know. Even if you won't join us on Zoom, you'll want to have
the music, as I don't expect this in-person break to last for too long.
*Adding your voice to a Hamilton recording--esp speaking /solo parts, but
all welcome*
For the Hamilton piece, what I hope to do is create an audio only version
of it on Soundtrap, an online recording platform. I especially would like
to add the voices of those with speaking/solo parts. I will add in all
choral parts myself, and anyone else is welcome to add their voices to the
choral parts as well. If you have now completely glazed over at the
prospect of this, no need to read further! Although especially if you
have one of the speaking parts, I hope you will.
I already used this platform to create the alto and soprano practice
tracks. I will add the tenor and bass parts and Eliza will add the piano
part, to replace the professional recording which now backs the alto and
soprano parts. At the least, we will need to have the speaking/solo parts
added. And then anyone else who would like to take a stab at adding any
part of the choral parts is more than welcome to. There are a few options
for doing this.
The simplest way if you can't bear the thought of learning new technology
(although this is pretty easy as new technology goes) would be for us to
meet, preferably at my house, and for me to set it all up, and all you
would have to do is put on some headphones and say/sing your part along
with what is already created.
Or, I can give you instructions on how to download and use Soundtrap (free)
and you can do this from your own home. The third option (least
preferable but possible), for speaking parts only--not chorus parts--would
be to just record your line on a voice recording and send it to me and I
will add it to the general recording. You just need to make sure your
timing is right, that you are following the tempo as it is in that choral
arrangement recording I have sent out at various times.
This would need to be done by next Thursday, so I have time to make the
final product.
Thanks, all!
Donia
