Subject: piano concert tour in November (2)
To: Michael Arnowitt <MA at mapiano.com>
Friends,
Happy to announce to all of you that I am returning to the United States in
November to do a performance tour of piano concerts in Vermont, New
Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Altogether, there will be nine public
concerts, including my doing the program in Toronto this Thursday before I
start the tour. These will be the first in-person concerts I have done
since Covid-19 began a year and a half ago, and you can be there! Here are
the details:
Thursday, October 28, 7:30 pm - Humbercrest United Church, Toronto
Wednesday, November 3, 7 pm - The Hayloft at Dragonfly Barn, Bridgton, Maine
Friday, November 5, 7:30 pm - McCarthy Arts Center, St. Michael’s College,
Colchester, Vermont
Saturday, November 6, 7:30 pm - Artistree Community Arts Center, South
Pomfret, Vermont (near Woodstock)
Friday, November 12, 7:30 pm - Brattleboro Music Center, Brattleboro,
Vermont
Saturday, November 13, 3 pm - Bethany Church, Montpelier, Vermont
Sunday, November 14, 2 pm - North Hadley Congregational Church, Hadley,
Massachusetts
Friday, November 19, 7:30 pm - Follen Church, Lexington, Massachusetts
Sunday, November 21, 4 pm - The Medallion Opera House, Gorham, New Hampshire
And the concert program is:
Michael Arnowitt, piano
J.S. Bach - 6 Selections from the 3-Part Sinfonias
Johannes Brahms - Variations on a Theme by Haydn
Gyorgy Ligeti - Open Strings, Rainbow, and The sorcerer’s apprentice
Alberto Ginastera - Finale from Piano Sonata no. 1, opus 22 (1952)
I understand those who remain uncomfortable going to any performance event
until they feel the pandemic is well and truly over. All I can say is the
various hosts for my concert and myself as an organizer are really taking
safety measures seriously. Audience sizes will be capped at a low maximum
for all events and audience members will need to wear masks and will be
physically distanced from each other within the seating area. Depending on
local health regulations, you may also need to show vaccine proof or a
negative Covid test result to attend.
I am encouraging all concertgoers to notify me in advance through my email
MA at MAPiano.com so I can monitor numbers and make sure the audience size
stays under the current maximum capacity limits.
Admission details vary but I have put the info for each concert on the
calendar page of my website, which is:
http://www.mapiano.com/calendar.htm
Most of the concerts are admission by voluntary donation on a
sliding-scale, pay what you can basis, because this entire tour was
organized very much at the last moment. I have high hopes the music at
these concerts will be especially meaningful given our forced absence from
live music for so long, and I encourage those of you who are willing to go
out and attend musical events to join me at one of these concerts.
Last-minute things can sometimes work out beautifully ... let’s hope.
Special notes
** If you would like to help me by putting up a poster or two in your
community for one of these concerts, please let me know. A very nice poster
for this tour was designed by Cyndi Ryan, individualized for each specific
concert.
** I am looking for some concert volunteers for the Colchester, Vermont and
Lexington, Massachusetts concerts.
** As it may be challenging to get the word out for these concerts due to
the last-minute nature of the tour, I would be very grateful if you can
pass along this information to any friends you know love music who live
near one of the concert sites.
Best,
Michael
