Below is the email I sent last September when we first worked on Sing
Gently. It includes a link to practice tracks.
Practice tracks for Gift to Sing should be ready next week sometime.

Hello!

If anyone wishes to practice/sing along with the song "Sing Gently" which
we worked on tonight, here is a link where you can find practice tracks
featuring each part:
https://soundcloud.com/ericwhitacre/sets/eric-whitacres-virtual-choir-6-sing-gently

The tracks each have all the parts, but they make individual ones louder so
you can practice your own part, hearing other parts in the background.

The attached picture is a screen shot of what the page will look like.
Scroll down until you see what you see here. When you first open the page
it might automatically start playing the complete version. If so, to get
to your part, first click pause either at the top of the page or where the
first arrow and circle are, then click play in the area next to the part
you want to highlight. (as an example, I have circled the area to click
for the tenor part.)

And here is the video Eric Whitacre made of this song in the Spring of 2020.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InULYfJHKI0
It's a 10 minute video although the song is only 3 minutes--the rest is the
credits of all 17,000 singers scrolling through!

If you want to go down the Eric Whitacre rabbit hole, here is the Ted talk
he gave over 10 years ago, where he talks about the origin of the virtual
choir. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NENlXsW4pM
Back then it was new and exotic--now of course they are depressingly
commonplace!

And I apologize, I called him an English composer, but he is very American
(although he is now based in England.). I find him so
fascinating--handsome, charismatic, more the impression of a celebrity pop
star, but his music is so so beautiful, deep and sensitive.

Enjoy!
Donia
