Hi all! I was really looking forward to returning to choir tomorrow after our family's winter trip away. Even on zoom.
But ... tomorrow is also January 6th (the anniversary of the insurrection) and there are numerous events and planning sessions. I would have picked in-person choir over attending one of these zoom events. Now that everything is on zoom, I am going to attend a January 6th session.  I will still join the choir zoom session but only for about 20 minutes.
Take good care everyone!Ginny

Subject: [Choir] Choir in January

Hi everyone,
Thank you all for your replies to my queries.   It is clear that a majority of you want to keep meeting and singing as possible in January, on a week to week basis as conditions allow.  A few of you very understandably want to hold off on anything in-person for a couple of weeks, at least.
It is also clear to me that to try to plan on producing offerings for services in January just isn't realistic given all of the uncertainty, and the excess pressure that creates.  So when we do get together, we'll be working on music for future months, as well as trying to record some hymns.  So no high-pressure rehearsals.
Here's the plan:We will continue to meet in-person on a week-to-week basis.   This week, however, with Covid Act Now (https://covidactnow.org/us/vermont-vt/?s=27701658) saying that Vermont and Washington County are at the highest risk level, we will not meet in person.  It is likely that all in-person activities at the church will be temporarily suspended.  We know that for the vaccinated the risk of severe illness is quite low, but we do have vulnerable people and want to do our part to ensure that any community spread is kept manageable.
Again, No in-person choir this week.
Some of you just aren't interested in zoom choir at all.  But enough of you are, as an alternative, that we will have it this week.   I'll send details and a link before Thursday.
I want to acknowledge the stress and fatigue created by all of the uncertainty, and all of the adapting we have had to do in the past months.  Projections now seem to be that this latest omicron-sized slap in the face will peak and pass fairly quickly.  If that holds true, and with work on the ventilation in sight, I think that we will possibly only have to hold on for another month or 2 before we can get to a more normal and steady routine.  If any of you just want to wait to sing with the choir again until that time comes, I totally understand!
See some of you Thursday!Donia
