[Choir] a few things

Hi everyone,

Hope you are enjoying the spring in the air and that those of you on dirt
roads aren't getting bogged down in the mud!

Wanted to pass on a few things--I will also be sending out the usual
rehearsal notes and reminder mid-next week.

First, I mentioned that those present might be able to sing all of the
hymns in-person at the service tomorrow, and urged choir members to
register.  The congregation will actually only be singing the closing hymn,
and will otherwise be humming only.  However, I still encourage you to
register!  There is no testing requirement anymore and it is easy to

Quite likely at the following service (the 27th) we will be singing all
hymns live--all of the necessary stamps of approval should be in place by
then.

As you know, we will be re-recording Give Us Hope next Thursday.  One of my
consistent disappointments this year is that we have not been able to
capture the fabulous sound of our choir in our recordings, due to
deficiencies of our equipment and knowledge (some have been better than
others, but none nearly as good as you sound live in the Sanctuary.)  The
congregation has yet to hear how really wonderful you often sound!   We had
a meeting with Colin McCaffrey, sound engineer extraordinaire, yesterday
and he is helping us with both equipment recommendations and recording
strategies.  He will be assisting with the recording on Thursday, bringing
his microphones as well as his expertise!

One of the things that means for us practically is that I would like to
start promptly at 6:30 with the children, but also want us to be adequately
warmed up.  So we will do a good series of warm-ups from 6:10-6:20 for
anyone who wants to come then.  We will do just a brief focussing warm-up
at 6:30.
