Hi singers,
I don't unduly chime in on group messages, but here are a few notes I'd
like to share:
1. Thank you, thank you, Donia, for following the covid craziness with
diligence and common sense on behalf of all of us. And for the latest link
to more free tests. And for EVERYTHING you do!
2. I did Place in the Choir with my elementary school students many years
ago. They transposed and arranged it off a recording with the beautiful
Orff instruments and had great fun singing. The one suggestion I'd give to
adults is Don't Be Inhibited with this song -- the kids aren't!
3. Donia and Verdis gave very moving tributes to the origin, meaning and
depth of Gift to Sing. On that note, I sang an all-African program with the
Outer Cape Chorale some years ago and a South African woman joined us. When
asked how her people had managed to get through the horrors of apartheid,
she said, We don't cry, we sing!
To the gift of music for peace on Earth --
Kathleen
