Happy Valentine's Day!
First of all, Thank you to those who stayed after choir last week to talk
about how things are going and some music going forward. It was a very
helpful discussion.
We addressed how choir attendance this winter has been spotty and
diminished, making preparing music more challenging. Much of this is just
the way things are now, with people being away, illness and other
unavoidable personal concerns, in addition to Thursday seeming to be Mother
Nature's favorite scrappy weather day this year;). Much gratitude to those
of you who have been stalwart and consistently there. This, however, is a
request and a plea to those who have been coming inconsistently to do your
best to attend whenever possible, and to communicate if you can't. We all
rely on each other, and our choir is, and feels, best when we all make a
shared commitment.
We also discussed how there often doesn't seem to be quite enough time to
rehearse, and have decided to try a small extension of our regular
rehearsal to 7:15. We will do this for the next month or so and see how it
feels. And while there won't be enough time for a full on break, I will
try to incorporate a quick stand and stretch break in the middle of
rehearsal.
If you haven't yet, please put on your calendar April 30th for Music
Sunday. I would also like us to do a reprise of our program later that
afternoon, for the public, both as a fundraiser and an opportunity for us
to sing the program another time! Let me know if doing this in the
afternoon of the 30th wouldn't work for you.
Finally, Marc Gwinn, the singer who sang "What the World needs Now" a
couple of weeks ago, will be singing at Hugo's this Thursday evening. I
think I'm going to go after rehearsal, perhaps others would like to join?
See you Thursday!
Donia
