Subject: Upcoming piano performances in Vermont and western Massachusetts
(2a)

Friends,

I'm returning to the United States for a short trip to perform some piano
concerts in northern and southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts. Here
are the details:

Saturday, February 25, two concerts, one at 3 pm and one at 7:30 pm -
Waterbury Congregational Church, Waterbury, Vermont

Sunday, February 26 at 3 pm - North Hadley Congregational Church, North
Hadley, Massachusetts

Sunday, March 5 at 3 pm - Bennington College Deane Carriage Barn,
Bennington, Vermont

No particular theme to this concert, just a mix of different pieces that
I've been really enjoying working on and performing in the last couple of
months. The major work on the program is Beethoven's Sonata no. 31 in A-flat
major, opus 110, which I haven't performed since 2015. Written near the end
of Beethoven's life as his health was deteriorating, this visionary sonata,
often considered Beethoven's most emotional, touches upon themes of
gratitude, struggle, healing, and resurrection and is just without a doubt
one of the great pieces of piano music. Another highlight of the program
are three soulful pieces by the present-day Ukrainian composer Victoria
Poleva, including onecalled Ischia Island I have not previously performed.
These are unpublished pieces the composer sent me a year ago shortly before
the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I'll also be playing four fugues from
Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, three etudes by Claude Debussy, some early
Expressionist poetic miniatures by Arnold Schoenberg and my own 2022
confection, "Bi Bim Bach."

Regarding the Waterbury, Vermont performances: many thanks to Willie Docto
and the Eleva Chamber Players organization who is presenting me in concert.
You can buy tickets at the door, but it always makes a concert sponsor and a
performer feel happy when people do buy tickets in advance, which you can do
through Eleva's website:

https://www.elevachamberplayers.com

In a couple of days I'll be posting on my YouTube channel an interview my
wife Therisa will do with me where I'll be talking about the pieces on the
program I'll be playing at these concerts. Assuming everything goes
technically smoothly, it should be online in a day or so. You can visit the
homepage of my YouTube channel "Michael Arnowitt Music" at this link:

I think that's about it. The only thing I can think to add here is that I do
have about a week gap between my second and my third concert, so if anyone
might wish to host my playing the concert either publicly or privately
during those open dates, naturally, I'd be happy to add another performance
to what I'm doing on this trip.

Lastly, I do have the ability to separate my email announcement list by
where someone lives, so if you have moved to a different state than where I
think you live, but you would still like to receive notices from me when I
perform near your current location, just reply to this email and let me know
where you're living now.

All the best and I hope to see you at some of these upcoming concerts!

Michael
