Hello dear friends,

I've been thinking about you and hoping you all have fared ok this past
week. We didn't have any damage at our place and our roads are fine, so we
are lucky.
But the ruin that is currently Montpelier is heartbreaking.
And it makes me want to get together and create something beautiful
and harmonious amid the mud and wreckage.

What I propose is to get together and learn and sing this beautiful piece,
Requiem, <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-BkziZpLKQ> by Eliza Gilkyson.
It was written following the Asian tsunami and has since been sung in
response to other water-related disasters.
I would also ask people from other choirs in town to join us. There is no
definite plan for performing it beyond our rehearsal, but it might possibly
be used at a vespers service Rev Joan might lead in another week or so, or
maybe after all the debris is picked up in town we could sing it in front
of City Hall, maybe along with one or 2 other songs like Hope Lingers On.
But the main thing is just to get together to sing. I would plan to send
out the piece beforehand as a pdf as soon as I know this is a go.

I'm thinking of *this* Thursday evening from 6-8, with the small wrinkle of
us not having a place to meet! While the sanctuary is fine the air quality
in the church is iffy. (Maryann and I actually just spent a few hours at
the church this afternoon spraying vinegar on the walls, ceiling and joists
in the basement, where mold is already spreading.) There are some
possibilities I am looking into--Beth Jacob, Old Meeting House. But I
didn't want to wait longer before getting in touch with you all to see if
there are enough people around and interested to make a go of it. Let me
know!

with love,
Donia
