Hello!
For those of you who haven't been into town lately--it's not so easy to get
around. I'm not sure where things stand today as they have started the
process of removing the piles of debris from the streets. But here is some
basic info, last I knew. The air in town can also be toxic--people are
having bad reactions-- so if you are sensitive you might want to wear a
mask when driving next to the downtown area.
State and Main Streets have been closed in the center of town. The exact
locations of the roadblocks has shifted, but be prepared to take
alternative routes to Vermont College. You can come in to the College area
from upper Main street/College Ave (Main is open from school street on
up, roundabout included.). From the other side of town Barre St is open,
and the various routes to the College area from there, eg Charles St,
SIbley Ave. I think Hubbard St is also open all the way through.
State Street is closed down past the Statehouse, but you can travel from
Memorial Drive via Taylor St , cross State St to Court Street and over past
the church on School St to upper Main St.
Also, COVID...
Covid outbreaks are still happening (one can't have too many disasters;))
so please stay away if you have symptoms or have been in close contact
recently with anyone who tested positive.
We (Rev Joan, Ginny and I) are also planning an event for the Congregation
next week at the Grange Hall which will include a lot of singing. Here is
the info about it: *Evening Service of Healing and Connection. *Please join
us for this special in-person only gathering on Wednesday July 26th from
6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Grange, 6612 VT Route 12. Reverend Joan Javier-Duval
and Music Director Donia Prince will lead an evening of music, meditation,
and shared concerns. All are welcome. The Grange has ample parking, and an
accessible entrance.
Thanks, everyone and see you tonight.
Donia
