A fascinating part of the composers biography.
There were quite a few POW camps in Michigan, Ohio and I think in the
south. In some cases they were mixed in with regular American prisoners and
there were some strong friendships established. Those German soldiers who
were Nazis and it's important to know that many were not, did spread the
ideology among some American prisoners. In every war there are dozens of
fascinating backstories like these.
