Hello!
See information below about a workshop on August 10 with Ali Burns, the
Scottish composer and singing leader who wrote Do Not Carry a Heavy Heart,
which we didn't sing this last year but did the previous 2. I think it
would be marvelous if we had a good contingent there!. Besides it
sounding like a fun day, there might well be something in the workshop that
we could do this year, maybe even for the first service! I'll be signing
up. If anyone would like to but feel they can't swing the fee, let me
know, our budget could probably cover some registration fees.

Harmony Singing Workshop with Ali Burns
Plainfield Friends Meeting House, 203 Martin Meadow Rd., Plainfield, VT
Saturday, August 10, 10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
Join Ali Burns for a day of songs with lush, beautiful harmonies and simple
text that are easy enough to learn by ear but satisfying and fun to sing.
Ali is one of the UK’s leading Natural Voice Choir Leaders and a songwriter
and arranger who loves to write for community choirs. Many of her songs
have found their way into the repertoire – and hearts – of singers across
the UK, and increasingly the USA, New Zealand and Australia. She was a
founding member of the Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network, the
international network for natural voice and community choir leaders. Ali
lives in Musselburgh on the outskirts of Edinburgh in Scotland, and teaches
all over the UK and beyond.
“All my life I’ve loved the way that singing and songs can raise you up and
make you feel better about being alive; the way that the right song at the
right time can make you feel human and connected to the world.” – Ali Burns
The day takes place at the beautiful Friends Meeting House in Plainfield
Vermont. Teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but bring your own
lunch, or pick up a sandwich at Plainfield Hardware on the way. Singing
begins at 10:00, but feel free to come a few minutes early to get settled
and have a cup. Lunch at noon, followed by more singing, with a tea break
in the afternoon.
Tickets for the event are priced at $25 per person. To register, visit
