Hello wonderful singers!
I am sitting here being indecisive, not sure what you all would really
like, and thought I'd ask you all for your preferences.
The question is about what music to do for the service just before the
eclipse, Vivaldi's Gloria, or Galaxias
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4f4mKxjwow&t=109s>, the piece we did
a year ago last December that included the singing glasses. I think we can
expect a lot of visitors for that service and the service will be themed in
a "wonders of the universe" direction. I had pretty much decided on the
Gloria because of limited rehearsal time but some rehearsal time has opened
up...
Here is the context: I will be undergoing a surgery--related to the
time a couple weeks ago when I wasn't feeling well--on March 20th. I can
tell you more about it tonight. I should only have to miss one rehearsal,
on the 21st, and Dick Riley has agreed to substitute then. But I will be
missing Sunday the 24th so the planned choir piece (which we actually
hadn't started to work on yet) won't be happening. I think we will be in
good shape with Music Sunday pieces, and I am now feeling that perhaps
people might enjoy something a little more challenging and I think we would
now have the time for it.
So, would you prefer a fun, tried and true, familiar but not that
challenging Vivaldi?
Or the Galaxias, which was gorgeous and unique but had ended up being more
challenging than expected back when we did it? But now we would be
beginning a little ahead of the game.
If we did the Gloria we will probably have time in April to begin working
on something perhaps a little more challenging for May.
Preferences?
Donia
