Hello beautiful singers!

Before I babble on about yesterday....We will have rehearsal this week, at
which we can also pass in any remaining music, further debrief Music Sunday
as we wish and anything there is to say about future plans, and start music
for the rest of the year. We won't sing this Sunday the 26th, but will at
the last 2 services on June 2 and 9th.

Thank you for a truly memorable service yesterday. Your sound and spirit
carried the day. I'm sure most of you have heard or seen how meaningful
and moving it was for people. Here is part of a note I received from Leah
Greenberg: *The service today was absolutely gorgeous and really moved me
through all the feels like great art can. Plus, the folks who sang, read,
guided…and what, when, and how they did so… truly impactful. It was a
musical journey I would embark on again and again. You are such a blessing
as are the performers and performers/WAs!*

And thank you also for your acknowledgment--I was so moved and touched by
it. I am often a little mystified by such things--it's not a false
humility--I do recognize that I'm good at my job, but no less good at my
job than you all are at your jobs or other things you do, and at the parts
you played yesterday. Mine is just more public facing, and at the hub of
creating a collective and aesthetic experience that people crave. But you
all were partners in that.

Here are a few individual things that stand out for me:
All of the featured vocalists did such a beautiful job. Truly, I'm not
sure why we ever need to have guest vocalists! I could say something about
each of you but will now just say, Diane, your singing directly to the
children gave an added, intimate, surprising dimension, and elevated your
singing to a new place.
Ginny, you got just the right words, saying the message of Hope for the
World presents us with a *challenge*. That intro set the stage so well.
Cecile, so much appreciation for your perseverance through your health
concern and to Mary Jane, Joy and all the rest of you for your practical
and emotional support, which seemed to help. Nothing made me prouder than
your collective sense of care. (and Cecile, I hope you are now able to get
the right follow-up care.)
And to the others of you who silently struggled with issues of your own
yesterday--some of which I know about and others I don't.
Tom, your readings, always so rich and deep.
KaeMaple, brilliant your bringing the stomping boards! Thanks for all of
the ways you watch out for us.
Beth and Maryann, your photo images and your help sorting through them were
integral and elevating. While singing the Penobscot Water Song I
particularly noted the attention and exclamations of people at the video of
the fish swimming. And Maryann as always thanks for your whole-hearted
support and excellent feedback about the slide shows.
As a group your sense of ensemble--blend, intonation, etc, was better than
ever.

Enjoy this beautiful day and see you Thursday!
