When I attended the October 2nd meeting of the "Team of Chairs," our prompt
was, "Why are you involved with this "committee"? What do you get out of
it?"
Here is what I shared:
"Singing is intrinsically pleasing, and learning new songs feeds my soul. The
breathing and the singular focus on producing pleasing sounds takes my
attention away from the chaos of living. Singing leads to a sense of peace
and calm.
"Singing with others in unison and/or in harmony is literally caressing
each other with our voices, and the resonance in our upper bodies feels
like hugging.
"Singing is worship. There are messages in the songs we sing, and it is
gratifying for the choir to offer our celebration of music to the
congregants."
I stand behind my choice to sing, and you can use my name.
