Dear Chairs, Staff, ET, Board members, et al,
First I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year and let you know again how much it means to me personally to be involved with such a generous, generative, passionately welcoming group of folks. It’s thrilling for me to be a part of laying the foundation for this community to grow its impact and reach more of our neighbors with our welcome. Yes!
Now, the details about next week’s meetings with the Board’s consultant. Just a reminder that these will be 1 hour meetings for the consultant to talk with you about your work in the congregation. There will be no need to prepare for this meeting, just come as you are with the knowledge that you have. There will be no need for staff to be in attendance on Saturday (except Bill Pelton for the tour of the B&G) as long as you (the staff) send notes along with your committee chairs to convey your thoughts and wisdom. You (the staff) and Joan and your committees should decide how best to use your time here. Committee chairs are welcome to extend this invitation to someone else in your committee either in your stead or as your companion, as long as you believe there will be a valuable contribution (I don’t recommend we invite all committee members from all committees). The point of these meetings is for the consultant to gather information from you. He will not be able to answer any questions about "what he’s noticed so far during his visit” or “our plans for our Stewardship or Capital Campaign" at all, although he is an expert and has been doing this work for a long time, so he may be able to answer questions about general practices within congregations, etc.
Below is the schedule of events for Saturday January 12. All meetings (except the tour at 8 am) will take place in either the Children’s Chapel or the Small Classroom. You’re welcome to come early, as Mark will be bouncing back and forth between the rooms, so he will likely be in “the other room” in a meeting when you arrive, and there will be a note on each door with a schedule to indicate where you will go. Everyone who’s names are in parentheses are people who haven’t confirmed with me yet. Please reach out directly to me (not to the whole list) to confirm or otherwise discuss your participation in these important meetings.
