Hello, all,

The board would like to following message regarding the 2020 Vision
Statement to be sent out Thursday or Friday. Please let me know if you have
any questions or if all looks good for sending out in a special message.

Thank you,
Joan

*A Glimpse at the Future from the 2020 Vision Task Force*

The board is pleased to announce that it has unanimously approved the 2020
Vision Statement presented by the 2020 Vision Task Force at its meeting on
Tuesday, January 5. The vision statement will be presented to the
congregation at the January 10 worship service.

The vision statement is a complex, multi-paragraph description of how the
Unitarian Church of Montpelier hopes to evolve over the next five years.
Among other items, it includes language on how the congregation will
approach social justice issues, attract new members and friends, adapt to
growth, represent and welcome all in the community, and nourish all members
and friends both spiritually and intellectually. It describes how people
who are a part of UCM will be impacted by the church, becoming improved
neighbors and world citizens.

The vision statement is a document that strives but is still practical. In
fact, the vision will provide a framework for the strategic plan (which the
task force will next begin working on) and act as an overall guide for
UCM’s future work.

The congregation will have the opportunity to review the vision statement
at learning circles at 11:30 a.m. on January 17, 24 and 31 at church, after
regular Sunday worship services. Each of these events will be jointly led
by a member of the task force and a member of the board (which oversaw this
important effort). The congregation will have the opportunity to approve
the vision statement later this winter.

A huge thank you to the members of the 2020 Vision Task Force for your
dedication and months of hard work! Included on the task force are
co-chairs Brenda Bean and Gail Falk, board members Stuart Russo-Savage and
Jo Romano, Paul Ohlson, Peter Thoms, and UCM Minister Rev. Joan Javier
Duval (who attended all the meetings and provided a lot of input and
advice).

With high hopes for our future,

Amy Willis

Board President
