My  90th birthday is coming up and I have reserved and paid to rent the vestry for the party. The women's Alliance and my daughter Janet Ballantyne will be hosting the party, so I hope you will be there:
Sunday, Sept. 3rd between 2:00 and 4:00.
Because my passion is to support the work of Heifer International, which helps farmers in many countries to become self sufficient, I am asking the guests to the party to write a small check (perhaps $10) made out to: Heifer International. I will then send the donated checks all together to my friends at the Heifer Farm, where my husband and I were the host couple for 2 months for each of thirteen years. The contributions  will be credited to our church.
Usually Harris Webster and I make a big effort between Thanksgiving and Christmas to have all in our congregation come to our Heifer Int. table and make out checks in honor of a member of their family or a friend. We usually raise a lot of money with that effort (more than $3,300 last year).
But this year Harris will be in Cambodia doing volunteer teaching for four months there, and I will also be away between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My father was a Jewish composer and teacher who lost his position when Hitler took over Austria in1938. He left for the US in 1939. My father's music, now revived and his  life are being celebrated in Vienna in December, so I will be travelling there right after Thanksgiving to attend the concert and exhibition.
I am requesting Mark to ask you each to support this event with a vote, which will reduce the fee I already paid for the rental of the vestry and let me send more from us all to Heifer International.
I hope you will be able to attend the party.
If you are unable to make it, and wish to support the effort for Heifer International, perhaps you would like to send a check ( made out to Heifer International)  for me to include with the others to:
