Dear Joan,

When one of us is at risk of deportation, none of us are truly free and
beloved. When policymakers target people who are served by programs like
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected
Status (TPS), we refuse to be divided.

Our partners are calling us to take immediate action, knowing the defense
of DACA recipients, the "Dreamers," is just one step in our work to ensure
safety, dignity, and a clear path to residency and citizenship for all 11
million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Here are three things
you can do today:
1) Fund Dreamers' DACA Renewal Application Fees
DACA recipients' issuances and work permits will remain valid until their
expiration dates. Those that expire between now and March 5, 2018 must be
submitted for renewal by October 5, 2017. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS) estimates that there are approximately 154,000 individuals
who qualify for these renewals. This process is urgent, complicated, and
expensive.

United We Dream and their partners are launching The Renewal Fund

an urgent opportunity to directly support DACA recipients' renewal
applications and fees. All funds will go directly to application costs.
2) Pass a Clean DREAM Act - Contact Congressional Leaders
As we take action to support Dreamers, Mijente and other migrant rights
groups call us to ensure that DACA is not used as a bargaining chip to
further criminalize immigrant communities. Congressional leadership needs
to hear that without a clean DREAM bill, people's lives will be further on

Senator Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

refuse any enforcement add-ons—no increases in Immigrations and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) or border patrol agents, no wall—and push for immediate

the call in order to receive the toolkits and other helpful information.
Support the Families and Friends of Dreamers: Protect and Defend Against
Raids
Our partners at Mijente have found that under Trump, ICE has reported a 150
percent increase in the use of force. It has rescinded any guidance on
prosecutorial discretion making every single undocumented person a target
for removal. This week, Mijente launched a nation-wide investigation into
ICE

They have created new tools to prepare to protect and defend each other
against raids

Our Unitarian Universalist Principles call us to stand against
criminalization of our communities. We keep our hearts and hands on the
work that will protect and defend all undocumented immigrants and we fight
for programs like DACA and TPS that have provided more rights and safety to
us and to those we love.

Love Resists joins with prayers and solidarity with the congregations
offering physical Sanctuary, supporting Sanctuary congregations in their
communities, working for sanctuary policies in their cities and towns,
providing pastoral care to congregants and community members who are at
risk, to those accompanying community members to their ICE check-ins,
calling elected officials, taking direct action in the streets and to those
directly impacted by checkpoints, workplace raids, the rescinding of DACA -
may you find in the midst of it all - strength, tenderness, and the power
of the ancestors that say no human can ever be illegal
