Hi all,

Just sending out a heads up that the UCM Warming Shelter will be getting started this week. Here?s a link to a doodle poll for THIS AFTERNOON AND TOMORROW for a brief training <https://doodle.com/poll/u6vhz6hytxx45dpsqsck3qkq/private?utm_campaign=poll_invitecontact_participant_invitation_with_message&utm_medium=email&utm_source=poll_transactional&utm_content=participatenow-cta>  and the Warming Shelter WILL OPEN ON THURSDAY. (Hope the doodle poll link works!)

Although there is already a list of about 14 people that signed up to be notified, I wanted to make sure you all knew about this opportunity to help out. If you?d like to continue to receive notifications about the warming shelter, please let me or Ansel or Peter Thoms know.

Organizing Committee to a community forum welcoming new and incumbent Central
Vermont Legislators to a breakfast on *Tuesday, December 11th, 7:30AM to
9:30 AM at Christ Church, Montpelier*.

The Central VT Organizing Committee will update the community on their
campaign to End Homelessness by 2020. Central Vermont housing staff and
advocates will give reports on the progress made and their future wish
list.  Legislators will be asked about their funding priorities related to
ending homelessness in the next legislative session starting in January.

Here's an announcement about events coming up in Montpelier over the next

*Love Knows No Borders: Solidarity Caravan Vigil and Art Making (sponsored
by Vermont Interfaith Action)*
On Monday, December 10th, International Human Rights Day, hundreds of
interfaith leaders joined together at the U.S.-Mexico border to bear
prophetic witness to the mistreatment of immigrants, refugees, and asylum
seekers as part of the American Friends Service Committee's "Love Knows No
Borders" campaign. 32 of these leaders were arrested

Here in Montpelier, on Tuesday, December 18th, International Migrants Day,
we will join in solidarity with the migrant caravan, Vermont's immigrant
community, and all who seek refuge in the U.S.

Calling all artists and those who enjoy creating art!!!

We are gathering at Bethany Church (115 Main St. Montpelier) this Friday to
create lawn signs and artwork to display at houses of worship in
Montpelier. These art installations will center around the theme of Love
Knows No Borders and will be up for display over the weekend and will be
used as part of our Solidarity Caravan Vigil on Tuesday, Dec. 18th.

Both of these events are part of a larger campaign taking place across the
county as we join in solidarity with the migrant caravan and all who seek
refuge in the US. Together, we are calling on the US to end the detention
and deportation of immigrants, respect the human right to migrate and end
the militarization of the border.

There will be soup and bread provided. This event is free and open to the
public. Please bring your creativity and any art supplies you may have!

Vigil today at 12pm beginning at UCM! Come and see the beautiful banner
that UCM member, Kristina Kane, played a big part in creating.

There will also be a candlelight vigil at 5pm at the State House.
