FYI - the latest report on Art Stukey's condition, and that Sue could use
some more soup if that's possible.

Dear Friends -

Art is holding steady. This past week brought some really rough days, but
today was a good day. His doctors now believe that the confusion, mental
lapses, restlessness, agitation - all the behaviors that aren't really Art
- are likely due to the underlying condition in his brain. A problem
yesterday alerted his neurologist to the pressing need for a brain biopsy,
so it is probably going to be scheduled for this week, possibly even
tomorrow. The biopsy should show whether the lesions in Art's brain are an
autoimmune disorder or cancer. The PET scan and lumbar puncture last week
showed that whatever is in Art's brain is not present in other parts of his
body.

I had a long visit with Art today, sort of filling in a bit for Meredith,
who couldn't visit, and relieving Sue, who decided she would head out early
and attend a holiday party (yay!). Talking with Art today was a mix of
moments that felt like real conversation with the real Art, alternating
with moments where he could not follow the conversation or had thoughts pop
up that weren't grounded in reality. Hopeful and heartbreaking, joyful and
distressing, and more.

Sue is grateful for the soup that you all gave her last week. She said that
she wrote down your names to thank you all later, and I assured her that
none of us want her spending time right now on thank-you notes. *Please
kindly drop off more soup (GLUTEN FREE) for Sue this week, if any of you
can.*

I'll be in touch as soon as the biopsy results are in.
