Hi All:

Lindsay and I will be coordinating the music for the services at the
summer congregation in Washington starting with this Sunday. Although
she will not be playing for all the services, I will be conducting a
"pick up " choir and would welcome any of you who would like to
participate, whenever you might be interested. The plan is to have
those interesting in singing on any particular Sunday to gather at the
church at 915, do no more than three minutes of simple warmups and then
rehearse two responses, one an opening such as a chalice lighting or
introit or call to worship and the other a close such as a benediction
or chalice extinguishing. On some Sundays we will also sing a simple
anthem that can be learned in 15 minutes or less. The music will come
from collections that most are not familiar with such as the UU
Musicians Network's "Choir Responses", the UUA Children and Youth
songbook which has some pieces appropriate for small adult choirs and
some other similar collections, as well as some selections in Singing
The Journey and Singing The Living Tradition. For those who request
it, I can also send .pdf scores of the selections for a Sunday a few
days before. However, I wish to emphasize that the music I am
programming most if not all of you will have no trouble learning it
right before the service.

If you have any questions, call me, or email me privately unless you
think others would also be interested in which case, reply here.

If you want to let me know, again privately, that you will showing up
this Sunday, that would be appreciated but is not at all necessary. I
look forward to seeing whomever does show up.
