Dear Friends and Church Leaders,
 
As you may well know, in the aftermath of Christina and Bob Jackman’s generous gift to the church, we are enthusiastically rebuilding the UCM Planned Giving Program. Planned Giving is a way for each of us, upon our death, to leave the church a little better off than when we first came to it. In just the past two months, UCM has learned of nine new planned gifts or pledges to do so! And five other families are actively considering the prospect. It makes me deeply appreciative to think that, after we are gone, our church will continue, in its wonderful ways, to “welcome all.”
 
In May, we will be publishing a UCM Planned Giving brochure, which will explain planned giving and will encourage members and friends to remember UCM in their wills or in other ways. The leadership of the church is currently taking this endeavor very seriously and several members from the Board and the ET have pledged to make a planned gift upon their death. It would be wonderful to include your name in this new Planned Giving brochure as someone who has made or pledged to make a planned gift.
 
Peter Thoms (chair), Brenda Bean, and I are currently steering this newly formed Planned Giving subcommittee of the Stewardship Committee. Each of our three families has made, or pledged to make, a planned gift to UCM. Any of us would welcome answering any questions you may have as you ponder the possibility of making a planned gift.
 
We hope that you will seriously consider this prospect, and thank you for what each of you does for our thriving and vibrant congregation!
 
We have attached UCM’s Planned Giving form, which provides a way for members and friends to describe planned gifts already arranged, such as a provision in your will, or to state your intention to make such a decision at a date convenient to you. If you have questions about the process or the form, please contact one of us.
 
While planned giving decisions require careful thought and time, please know that, if you send in the form by April 14th and give consent, your names will be included in the brochure.
