Dear Committee Chairs and Leaders,

On behalf of the Board I am reaching out to see if you might be able to
assist in our ongoing search to fill two open seats on the UCM Governing
Board. If you know of anyone in your committees who might be willing to
serve in this important role and would be well-suited to join the Board
please share that person's name with me or any other Board member or share
this information with them and encourage them to reach out to me directly.

Here's a little bit of information on what the Board does:

In 2013 UCM decided to move from a traditional operational Board of
Directors to a policy governance Governing Board of Directors. The Board’s
work is forward thinking (what is on the horizon) and is driven by the
church’s vision and mission. The work is rewarding and provides so many
opportunities to interface and interact with a wide variety of the church’s
organizational structure and its members. The following information is
provided to outline some of the logistical aspects of being a Board member.

What is the time commitment?

   - Board Members serve a two-year commitment.
   - Attend monthly Board meetings; the expectation is to schedule around
   these meetings.
   - Prepare for monthly meetings (reading reports, review proposals,
   complete monitoring reports, etc.)
   - Communicate (read and reply) to emails minimally once a week.
   - Represent the Board at church events and meetings.

When does the Board meet?

   - The Board meets monthly from August to June on Tuesday evenings from
   6:00-8:00pm.
   - Currently the Board meets the first Tuesday of the month.
   - The Board traditionally holds retreats in August, and sometimes other
times of the year. These retreats are half day to full day events.

Thank you for spending a few minutes thinking about who might be willing
and able to serve in this capacity and forwarding their names along.

All the best,

Ryan
