Hi CoC: I apologize for not attending last night's meeting. It was on my calendar . It was entirely my fault. Diana is our super chair, but she is extra busy and some of us volunteered to take on some tasks normally carried out by the Chair to help her out. I had volunteered to be CoC rep.

LATE REPORT about UCM's Climate Action Tea. (C.A.T.) : Laura Brooke who often fills the secretary function has taken on the E-News function. Laura has also set up a UCM Climate Action Google Group of about 30 members who are specifically interested in climate action. We on C.A.T. often do communicate information with this google group about Central Vermont happenings related to climate action . We also have a google group with oher UU churches, primarily the UU Society in Burlington . We did have a meeting with the Burlington group over the summer.

Probably our major sub committee is the committee led by Diana which Harris and Catherine also play a role on. This sub committee both assists directly and indirectly in the worship services and hopefully will do so at least once a month. We have led a break-out room during coffee hour in services directly related to protecting the earth. .

We have lost members and now have 6 members ( Diana Chace, Laura Brooke, Allen Clark, Harris Webster, Margaret Blanchard. Catherine Lother)who have attended regularly and a few who have come irregularl in the past. One dedicated member Catherine Lowther is severely injured . Thus one task has been to recruit new members. So far we have had little success. We have one member who attends fairly often from the Four Corners Church in Hartland. We did meet all summer.

Allen Clark, a regular member, keeps us informed and represents us on the church building plans.

Harris is a liaison with the VTIPL(Vermont Interfaith Power and Light) as a member of the Board of VTIPL to inform folks about their fairly regular programs. Some congregational members have attended them, but not many.

During the last church year Catherine Lowther led a workshop on lowering our individual carbon footprints ,which a few UCM members attended.

A few of us have attended protests in Montpelier and Burlington concerning the #3 and #5 tar sands oil pipelines.

Since to 'Protect the Earth our Home' is one of the five charges in our UCM's Mission Statement , we encourage all committees of the church to consider supporting climate action in some way.

Harris (Webster) PS Diana, feel free to supplement items I may have forgetton .

We did just have an LSE meeting today (outside the church on this beautiful day!) and Liza updated us on air quality work.

Since the beginning of the church year, we've had good showings at our Children's Chapel online time from 9:15-9:45, which is now hosted by Liza one week and an LSE volunteer the following week. Middle School and High School youth groups are having one meeting in person each month and occasionally a zoom meeting as well. Liza is hoping to continue to offer a 3rd Sunday outdoor gathering through December. October's was cancelled due to a Covid close contact. I believe there at least 10 small group ministries that have started or restarted this year! Wow!
