Subject: Summer at UCM
Wondering how to stay connected to this spiritual community from now until
September? Read on for information about our summer program offerings and
for staff, office, and communication schedules.
*Nurture Your Spiritual Journey throughout the Summer at UCM*
*Summer Services*Continuing our tradition of 10 years, we will have
meetings for silent and spoken meditation this summer. They will be held on
Sundays at 10:00 am in the vestry, from June 19th through September 4th. As
we've done recently, a short reading will be placed on chairs. Those
attending are welcome to ponder the reading. After 45 minutes, whether the
meeting has been silent until then or not, conversation about the reading
will be welcome. Please contact Peter Thoms with questions (223-2648,
peter.thoms1 at gmail.com).
*Evensong*Traditionally Evensong takes place toward the end of the day and
includes music, meaningful words, and silent contemplation. At our Evensong
we also welcome all to join in relaxed and relaxing reflection on our
individual thoughts, experiences, doubts, and beliefs.
The group will meet at UCM 6:30-8pm the following Mondays:
June 13 - Religious and Spiritual Experiences
June 27 - The Divine
July 11 - The Human
July 25 - The Messiah, the Christ, the Buddha; The Divine Made Manifest
August 8 - The Community
August 22 - Endings
August 29 - Ministry
We expect given summer travel that people will come and go as available. If
you are interested in participating please contact facilitators Bill Paine (
paine.cpt.safety at gmail.com) and Mara Iverson (mara.iverson at gmail.com).
*UUA General Assembly Sunday Service Livestream, June 26*Have you wondered
what happens at GA? This year's assembly, in Columbus, Ohio, is streaming
their Sunday service and we will join them. Come to the vestry on Sunday,
June 26 at 10:15 am. Janet and John Poeton will give us a brief
introduction and then we will watch the service on our silver screen. We
can light our own chalice and sing hymns with thousands of Unitarian
Universalists from across the country. There will be child care in the
nursery and older children are welcome to join us or bring a book or quiet
activity. For more information, contact Kristin Glaser (223-2783 or
kristinglaser at comcast.net).
*Organize on the Side of Love*The UU Leadership Institute is offering an
8-session, self-guided online course called “Organizing on the Side of
Love: Tools and Tips for Interconnection and Impact
<http://www.uuinstitute.org/courses/organizing-160-su16/>.” This course
will be 8 pre-recorded sessions of 30 minutes each, with some
readings/short videos: you can watch whenever you want, just watch them all
by Sep.15! *Rev. Joan will host an opening session for anyone participating
on Thursday, June 30 from 1-2:30pm and a closing session on Thursday,
August 25 from 5-6:30pm.* There will also be three 1-hour long online
‘discussion circles’ at 7pm on Fri. July 1, Fri. July 29, and Wed. Aug 24.
The recommended book for the course

can be purchased online as an e-book. The course fee is $30. Contact Rev.
Joan if you decide to register and would like to participate in the UCM in
person meetings.
*Extending Prayer Group*The prayer exploration group which met this spring
will continue to meet Tuesday evenings at the church this summer. People
with some experience with prayer are welcome to join. We do a variety of
prayers: both silent, out loud, singing, sitting silently after each. There
is also discussion. If you would like to come, contact Kristin Glaser
(223-2783 or kristinglaser at comcast.net).
*Notes about Staff, Office, and Communications Schedules*
