Hello Friends,
I have a few Social Responsibility Announcements following our inspiring
and productive meeting on April 9:
*SRC Potluck*: Please sign up to attend this! I would love to see some
of the folks that are on this listserv but are not regular committee
attendees. The potluck is a great chance for you to talk about the
social justice issues that matter to you in an easy-going, food-centered
atmosphere. I will briefly introduce some of the things the committee
has tackled this year but most of the lunch will be about connecting
with others at your table.
Date: *Sunday, April 23rd* Noon-1pm in the UCM vestry (following coffee
hour)
RSVP: Please let Hedi Ballantyne know whether you plan to attend:
hedi.ballantyne at gmail.com
*White Supremacy Teach-in: *On *May 7*, in lieu of our regular SRC
meeting, we will be hosting a white supremacy teach-in at UCM after
church service. We hope this will bring attention to the systemic
racism that exists even within our faith organization. This is a
national event that will be happening at UU congregations around the
world and has been organized by Black Lives of UU (BLUU). BLUU has
resources and materials available for congregations that we will be
using. If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact
Ansel (ansel.ploog at gmail.com).
