Hi All,
I had a request to share the content from the slides used at the Committee
of Chairs meeting. Knowing that not everyone can access powerpoint, here is
the text from the slides (slightly edited for clarity).
The most important bit:
Check out https://www.vermontrelay.com/rcc to learn more about human
generated captions for meetings happening during business hours (must be
scheduled at least two business days in advance)
Here are the other tips:
Use your “zoom name” like your nametag -- include your pronouns. (Rename
yourself by clicking the three dots on your video or selecting your name in
the participants list)
Work in teams so the person leading the meeting has help to monitor group
and individual needs (like questions in chat)
Try different ways to manage turn-taking (Hand-raise, Leader Directed,
“Talking stick”)
Use the chat to invite everyone to contribute or share without talking over
one another
Plan time for technical difficulties
You can arrange your windows to see Zoom on half your screen to use the
rest for something else
Use ritual to ground ourselves (- light a chalice, - share our covenant)
Share readings so people can follow along even if they can't hear well (in
chat, screenshare, email)
Find YOUR best option for YOUR audio:
Use Phone for Audio if your internet is slow or unstable and you hear well
on the phone
Use a headset with Zoom on your computer
Use external speakers
Adjust your smart-phone’s frequency response in accessibility settings
Connect your hearing aid to your phone (talk to your audiologist or hearing
aid dispenser to understand this option)
Using captioning software ( powerpoint, otter.ai, ava, google-meet) or
human-generated captions (e.g., https://www.vermontrelay.com/rcc for
daytime meetings and arranged at least two business days in advance )
